Christmas Gifts for New Soldiers

Christmas Ideas for Soldiers

Wondering what to get that new soldier for Christmas? I've got some ideas for you! I've rounded up the most commonly purchased items from my Amazon affiliate links, along with some forum fave's, and I'm going to share them with you here.

Soldier's Bible

G Shock Military Watch

Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation

St. Saint Michael the Archangel

Psalm 91

#1 Purchased Item for Soldiers at BCT

The Soldier's Bible is hands down the most frequently purchased item using affiliate links from the Ft. Leonard Wood website. This is a GREAT gift to send to soldiers in basic training because they're allowed a religious book.

It's a great Christmas gift too, but ... for soldiers that are still in Basic Training, this is one of those things you can mail them to really brighten their day. I first heard of the Soldier's Bible when my husband bought it from Amazon for our own daughter, the soldier featured in the blogs here.

G Shock Watch

G Shock Watch's are likely the 2nd most popular gift to give to graduating and deploying soldiers. They also make a great, and personal Christmas Gift that soldiers can use when they return to Basic Combat Training, as well as take with them on into active duty. Not all G-Shock watch's are the same, so be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the Amazon page of the watch that you've chosen and read the reviews.

Black is generally the best choice of color as it's the most commonly accepted color option in Basic Training. All soldiers can have watches in Basic, but only some soldiers can have colors other than black.

If your soldier is still in Basic Training, try to pick a watch that you'll recognize later. They're priceless when it comes to identifying soldiers in pictures.

Powers Cell Phones 3x Faster than Wall Chargers!

This is a fantastic option for soldiers that don't have regular access to power. It stays charged for days when not being used, and will charge more than one telephone at a time. The soldiers have to give their phones up, and their batteries can die. However, they don't have to give up their mophies! As soon as the DS hands them the phone to call you, they can plug it into the mophie, and use it on the go.

Some Mophie's actually have plugins for two phones, so they can even help a battle buddy out.

There are other battery packs, the Mophie is just top of the line, and the one I carry in my purse, attached to my phone, as well as the #1 recommended device for soldiers due to the triple speed charge.

Approved Military Jewlery

Soldiers in Basic Training are allowed to have one religious necklace. St. Saint Michael the Archangel is the most popular choice thus far by our families. There are a few different variations of the St. St. Saint Michael the Archangel necklaces, for instance there's a National Guard specific pendant.

Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the Divine Power of God,
cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits

who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Military Edition

Another very popular choice when it comes to sending soldiers reading material is this soldier specific, military edition study guide for Psalm 91. Another popular option is Daily Guideposts: Daily Inspiration for Our Men and Women in Uniform. Remember though that soldiers can have 1 religious book during Basic Training, unless otherwise approved by their specific unit. That means if your soldier already has the Bible, or the Psalm guide, you may want to hold off until AIT.

During a Wolverines v. Rutgers football game, a family gets a fantastic surprise. Through a new initiative Rutgers athletics and ROTC chose to honor a local hero. The family was present to accept the deployed soldiers reccognition, however, as you might have guessed. The soldier runs out onto the field to greet his family.
